The Bold and the Beautiful
The minimalistic look gets a much-needed update. Having graduated from monotone black-and-white palettes or staid neutrals, designers now look to infuse bold, vibrant colours into the bathrooms for an instant glam look. Glazed ceramic tiles in strong tones like lipstick red or deep purple as backsplashes or wall accents work well to give the room a snazzy old-Hollywood feel. For the adventurous, metal wall tiles are a novel way to give the bathroom instant sparkle. Steel, copper and aluminium add a royal touch to the bath interior without much additional cost.
Wild Child
This summer, don’t be afraid to play around with clashing colours and designs. Go wild with unique colour tones, mixing purple and green is no longer a taboo. And why limit yourself to boring squared tiles? Tiles do come in hexagonal and octagonal designs; and this adds geometric beauty your bathroom without much hassle. Alternatively, experiment with mosaic tiles to create colourful designs by either repeating simple patterns or by using more elaborate shapes.

Glass Class
Glass tiles are one of the hottest trends to pop up in hip bathrooms today. Its nearly-endless range of colours is the main draw for buyers. Often used as shower walls or as accents on floors, glass tiles add sparkle, depth and luminescence not found in ceramic or stone. Use sparingly to create mesmerising visual highlights, or cover an entire bathroom wall with it for a luxurious spa-like atmosphere. Also, recycled and fusion glass designs are all the rage now as homeowners strive to be more environmentally-aware without compromising on style and design.
Nature’s Call
Our penchant for beautiful hardwood floors in our bathroom have always been tempered by its susceptibility to moisture. So, we move on to the next-best thing: faux hardwood porcelain tile. With the tile industry at its creative best, homeowners now get to enjoy the beauty of hardwood without the hassle. Much easier to care for than real wood, porcelain tiles have a natural resistance to moisture which makes it suitable for bath applications.
