Metallic gold conjures illusions of grandeur and luxury. It speaks of royalty and the trappings of opulence that follows in its trail. But using shades of gold in the home is still a rare phenomenon, only the brave dare embrace it.
Many people shy away from metallic in the home because they fear it may be too reflective or too opulent. But what most do not know is that metallic wall paint can add that elusive shine and shimmer to your room that a flat coat of paint will never achieve.
For instance, a metallic gold shade with deep yellow undertones that’s used in a kitchen with a lot of natural light can give off a beautiful soft glow that enhances the warmth and comfort of the room. Alternatively, use a deeper burnt gold shade as an accent wall in your bedroom. When the bed side lamps are switched on, it will give the whole room a beautiful shimmery, ethereal effect.
For an interesting touch, paint only the lower half of the walls with metallic gold, leaving the top half a simple off-white tone. Then apply a wall border where the two colours meet - you will have a room that is opulent yet understated.
