Known for its calming properties, lavender is now not only used for aromatherapy, but is also becoming a staple colour in home decorating. Lavender is most popular as bedroom colour themes due to its lightness and versatility.
But as with any colour theme, the key to successfully implementing this colour is moderation. One option would be first using paler shades of lavender for the walls to create a fresh breezy feel in the room, and then complement the look with heavy accents like a rich purple bedspread or a rug in dark maroon. The subtle contrasting tones will help set off the colour of the walls beautifully without clashing too strongly. Alternatively, opt for shades of green in the same intensity as the lavender for a calm, soothing ambience.
Lavender also works well for window shades and curtains. Light curtains in pale lavender will create a soft feminine look, but may be too thin and not much use in keeping out the light or protecting privacy. Try accompanying it with white gauzy panelling for more practicability without compromising on its look.
