COMFORT ZONES
Covered or uncovered space. Make sure the furniture you choose matches with your commitment to keep it looking good. Decide what kind of material is best for your outdoor furniture based on whether your outdoor entertaining space if covered or uncovered. For instance, furniture made with certain materials (such as wood and wrought iron) will require more maintenance than other materials (aluminum and glass).
Shades. You cannot control the weather but you can work around it. In our tropical climate, we are primarily concerned with the hot, sweltering weather. If you would like to get permanent shades, consider getting gazebos. If you have a patio then a simple tarp or roll-out awning may be the preferred choice. Many awnings are now automated so you can simply press a button and it will roll out and sets itself up. If you are looking for temporary shades, parasols are the best options.
Cooling devices. In addition to shelter, there are ways to shade or cool your guests. You can set up fans to improve air movement as there are fans specially made for the great outdoors. You may also wish to invest in some misters to regulate the temperature. A good mister will not soak your guests or even really get them wet but it will make them feel a lot cooler.
Bugs and pests. There is a chance that mosquitoes and flies may be a great distraction during your outdoor party. Wasps can also be a problem too. To overcome the bugs, set up fly and wasp traps in advance to avoid unsightly bug zappers or smelly candles. A bug zapper might be okay if used in an area away from the party, so is can help to lure bugs away and not be a distraction.
